CSNR Fellowship Programs

2024 Summer Fellowship Program:

The Center for Space Nuclear Research (CSNR) currently invites undergraduate and graduate level students to experience cutting-edge research in nuclear power and propulsion technologies through our 2024 Summer Fellowship Program. As a CSNR Summer Fellow, you will work as part of a team of students and with scientists from Idaho National Laboratory (INL)  and NASA Marshall Spaceflight Center to complete a space nuclear research project of current interest to NASA. The Summer Fellows program allows participants to experience a real research environment, to learn from active nuclear scientists and engineers, and to preview careers in research.

The 10-week program runs from Monday June 3, 2024 to August 9, 2024. Fellows will receive a weekly stipend to cover living expenses of $650, $800, and $900, for undergraduate, master's level, and PhD level students, respectively. The 2024 Program will require in-person participation and thus affords many opportunities for camping and hiking in the Yellowstone/Grand Teton region.

CSNR Named Fellowship Program:

Starting in Summer 2024, The Universities Space Research Association will launch its new Center for Space Nuclear Research (CSNR) Named Fellowship Program. Working with and on behalf of the national and international space nuclear power and propulsion technologists and mission users community, The CSNR will host graduate students, post-doctoral and visiting researchers under its Named Fellowship Program to perform research and development projects that will lead to a focused talent pipeline that will enable the future success of NASA, Department of Defense, Department of Energy and industry.

Intended to serve as a year-round engagement opportunity for graduate students to perform part of or complete their Masters or Doctorate degree programs at the CSNR. If you are interested in completing your research as a Named Fellow under the sponsorship and in collaboration with our industry and government sponsors and partners, perhaps extending your experience as a past CSNR Summer Fellow, please express your interest through an email to [email protected]. Please include your resume and contact information for your academic advisor/supervisor.
